week 5

The engine is out.

The first step is to see what the new engine needs from the old one, and move the parts over.

The wiring harness had to be moved over to the new engine and it is very important that the correct plugs were connected into the right spots. It is important because we would not know if there is a plug in the wrong spot until the engine is back in the car and we have done a test run. If there was a miss connected plug, then we would have to take the engine out again and figure out whats wrong.

Some hoses had to be removed and transferred over to the new engine. One hose was too long to be connected so we had to cut it and make it the right size.

I had to move the power steering pump over. I was careful to make sure i put it on the right way because if you turned it upside down, the bolts and the holes would still line up which made it look like it would still fit.

Moving all these parts over, was a slow careful process because there were times where we would not see that there was a part or a bolt missing that plays a big role in the engine.

I had to put new spark plugs in the pistons and made sure that they were in correctly.

There was a plug that got damaged in the moving process so my teacher had to find a way to fix it by connecting it to another wire.
